Top Height Training support Dogsfriends for Christmas

We wish all our customers and suppliers a Happy Christmas and New Year, thank you all for your wonderful support in 2009. Our phonelines will be open throughout the Christmas period.

Rather than sending Christmas cards to all our customers we hope this message will suffice. We took the decision this year to not spend the money we would have spent on cards and stamps, but to donate it to local Bristol based charity Dogsfriends, who rescue, foster and rehome needy dogs.

Louise Henley of Dogsfriends said

"Thank you so much to Top Height Training. The money they have donated will really make a difference at the end of this really difficult year.

"Already we have rehomed 360 dogs this year, but have many more coming in. Only this week we have taken a rottie x mastiff pup, 4 ex breeding spaniels from a puppy farm and are fighting to save three collies from being dumped on the Brecon Beacons because their owner is moving house."

Rowena Hicks, Director of Top Height Training Ltd added

"Top Height Training are a very dog friendly company. My two dogs were rescued by Dogsfriends , and I am happy to support them through our donation and also fostering.

"I am currently fostering a 7 month old collie puppy over Christmas whilst he finds himself a permanent home. [Please see a picture of Brin below enjoying the snow.] Anyone interested should phone me on 07900 812 078".

Dogsfriend's website can be viewed at www.dogsfriends.co.uk.

Many thanks

The Top Height Team (including the Top Height Dogs)

Courts Given More Power and Fines Raised for Health and Safety Lapses

New health and safety laws that come into effect today will make penalties for lapses in health and safety much tougher for both businesses and individuals.

The Health and Safety (Offences) Act which comes into effect today (January 16th 2009) introduce three tough penalties introduced to act as a deterrent to businesses that are tempted to flout the law.

The Act widens the range of offences for which an individual can be imprisoned and increases the maximum penalties that can be imposed for health and safety regulation breaches from £5,000 to £20,000 in the lower courts. Sentences can now be more easily set at a level that will deter businesses that do not take their health and safety management responsibilities seriously.

Rowena Hicks, Director of Top Height Training said "It seems like months now since we have not been bombarded with news about the credit crunch, and that many businesses are beginning to feel the pinch. We understand that many companies are looking for ways to cut back on spending, but these new laws mean that cutting back on health and safety training could be a false economy. If companies do not provide their employees with appropriate training, they could end up facing a fine of up to £20,00"

The HSE have made it clear that their enforcement policy will target "those who cut corners, gain commercial advantage over competitors by failing to comply with health and safety law and who put workers and the public at risk."

Top Height Training Ltd provide many accredited courses that are specifically designed to help businesses comply with health and safety obligations, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the Control of asbestos Regulations 2006. For more information on these services, visit the site www.topheighttraining.co.uk or call 0117 961 6546.
